Suisun Library

This 10,000 square foot new Community and Elementary School Joint-use project is adjacent to a community park in Suisun City is designed to revitalize the surrounding neighborhood. As a joint-use facility, there are two separate entrances to the Library, one from the Community and one from Suisun Elementary School.

The design is based upon the clearly expressed desire from the community to create a building that fits well in the predominately residential neighborhood. The design recalls more traditional architecture crisply detailed in a contemporary manner.

The project was designed from the first meeting using sustainable design principles. The building features overhangs and sunshades on the South; north facing light monitors over the main reading areas; and an energy efficient mechanical system. The library also includes an access floor throughout with under-floor ventilation and a flexible technology infrastructure.
